To say that the fur starts to fly when these two ladies get together is an understatement. Each brings their own passionate ideas and concerns to the table. Working together to better the lives of animals has created a bond and a force that's unstoppable. Courtney, with Bluetails is most passionate about creating awarenss about heartworm disease and responsible pet ownership in our community. Michelle, with JPAWS is proactively working on legislation to ensure a better quality of life for all pets in our community. These ladies are leading the pack in making a difference for the animals in Jefferson Parish, Together we are stronger!
Bluetails Pet Rescue is a non profit foster based animal rescue located in the greater New Orleans area and takes in neglected dogs, provides them with medical care and a loving environment while finding them a permanent home.
Our mission is to rescue animals in need, rehabilitate as necessary, prepare for adoption and ultimately place in loving homes.
We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – animals in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, pets given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. ~ Courtney
The Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services mission is to improve the community through the practice of compassion by saving and protecting animals, providing care and treatment, through education, advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond.
The shelters hold lost animals for-owners-to reclaim, adopts out homeless animals and quarantine dogs and cats that have bitten. In addition the shelter investigates complaints of cruelty or neglect of animals. The shelters accept all stray animals turned over to them found in Jefferson Parish, they accept owner surrenders or "owned" pets by appointment only.
